Valentine’s Bequeath

Today as Cupid’s piercing darts
Do once again invade my heart
Renew the love that is my life
Maintain my strength through darkest night
When all alone I groping stand
To seek an image of the hand
I long to hold against my heart
To warm my soul and ne’er depart

From this sure place of love’s retreat
That fills my cup to lifetime sweet
With softest caring all complete
And evermore shall still repeat
This simple phrase of true entreat
Fulfil my love I ever seek
With you my love and always keep
Until our lips refuse to speak
This phrase of Valentine’s bequeath.
