<==== Robert L. Perkins ====>
Flash of light to shatter the night,
Electric bright and white, gone in an instant.
Crash, bam, what was that?
“Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind”,
Been there before, but, oh my!
Beau, the general, races the fence line,
Squirrels scamper for trees.
Crash, bam, there it is again!
Water falling from heaven on dry land
Drinking deeply, gulping gladly.
Frogs turn cartwheels, croak with delight.
Birds confused, wobbling in flight.
Flora cries “Yes” to all the above
“Another shot please, if I may ask.
Won’t you join me as I drink all night?”
Summer party schemes on hold,
Steamy mists rise up quite bold.
Best laid plans now fall apart
Evaporate in dripping dark.
But, after all, tomorrow - it’s another day.
Life goes on, feel the circle spin?
What spoils my life feeds another
And, sometimes, vice versa.
It is a system, it seems to work,
And on and on it goes – much obliged.
